Questions

Are there risks or side effects to acupuncture? Acupuncture is a safe method of encouraging the body to promote natural healing and improved functions. While some people feel a stinging sensation during the insertion of the needle, acupuncture rarely causes serious side effects. Sometimes general changes in appetite, sleep, bowel or urination patterns, or emotional state may be triggered, but these are temporary and an indication that the body is beginning to adjust. It may also common for the first few treatments to have a sensation of deep relaxation.

How many treatments will I need? The number of treatments and the number of needles differs from person to person depending on the desired result of the treatment. Some conditions may require one to two treatments per week for several months.

Is acupuncture covered by Health Insurance? Some insurance companies cover acupuncture costs while others do not yet recognize the value of acupuncture. Each health policy must be reviewed to determine acupuncture health benefits.
